Marie Doherty - Property Management
I was born in Lismore (northern NSW) and at a young age we re-located and spent some time in Evans Head, Taree (where my grandparents and extended family lived) and then onto Sydney. On leaving school I trained as a mothercraft nurse and then spread my wings and travelled to New Zealand on a working holiday. On my return I was happy to work in child care but after some years I decided on a career change. Venturing into customer service and administration within the freight industry, I was given the opportunity to take up a position in Mackay, North Queensland. After 3 years I decided to return to Sydney to work for my brother in the rag trade but I soon realised city life was not for me. I decided on a sea change and ended up in Forster, where it is beautiful one day and perfect the next. Friends I had met in Mackay offered me my first position in the real estate industry, working in holiday administration and property management. During this time I met my husband, a local builder. I continued my career in this field for 10 years, in Forster and Pacific Palms. After taking leave to have my son, Jack, I did not return to full time work but have kept the blood running through my veins with casual employment, still within the real estate industry. In March of 2010, I was very happy to join the Professionals as relief staff, working along side Carolyn Wilson in property management. Since then I have also had the opportunity to work in sales administration and on the front desk . Confusion reigned there for a while with two Marie’s on the front desk. Trying to fill someone’s shoes is not always easy but I was never without the help and support of encouraging co-workers. Client care is foremost with the Professionals, whether you are a vendor, purchaser, landlord or tenant, everybody is important and it’s great to be part of this team but it is tough living in paradise.
