Do you know how to make a small room feel larger?

One of the biggest complaints when it comes to bedrooms is they tend to look small and stuffy. While you may not be able to change the actual size or layout, you can create some illusions of it looking bigger than it really is.
Taking advantage of your wall space:
There is a lot of valuable wall space that you may not be using to its fullest extent. Instead of taking up floor space with a table to hold a lamp, or using a floor lamp, use wall lighting instead. Use shelving, as well as hooks for anything that can be hung.
The use of mirrors:
Using mirrors will create the illusion of extra space. They reflect the room making it appear much larger. To really get the full benefit from this try to strategically place your mirrors opposite each other to get a double effect.
Look up:
Create the illusion of height by buying floor to ceiling shelves and wardrobes. They extend the vertical space, plus give you a lot more use of the upper space.
Go light:
Light colors automatically make a room look more open and airy, whereas darker colors created a more closed in feeling.
Scale is important:
Make sure you balance all of your bedroom furniture appropriately. The size of your accessories like tables and dressers should be in proportion to the size of the bed. There is plenty of stream lined furniture on the market that works well with a large bed, but are space savers at the same time.
Go clutter free:
It is really difficult with a small bedroom to keep it clutter free, but the results of doing so is really worth the effort. If an item doesn’t have to be out in full view then find an out of sight place for it. Often a lot of things end up in the bedroom that really would do better in other areas of the house.
Keep the walking space open and free:
Plan the layout of your furniture so it allows you enough space to walk around and about in your bedroom without having to turn sideways to get past it. Having to do this is going to make you feel really cramped in and takes away from the enjoyment of the room. This is a room that must be functional but can be a pleasant atmosphere at the same time.
